Yusuf is one of the six government employees confronting indictment for purportedly taking N32.8billion Police Pension Fund.

He was at first indicted and condemned to two years detainment with a choice of fine of N750, 000 (Seven Hundred Thousand Naira in particular) by a Federal Capital Territory High Court managed by Justice Abubakar Talba, in a request deal course of action. The conviction, viewed as a token punishment, started national and worldwide shock.

Administering on the considerable issue, the Justices of the Court of Appeal held collectively that the three checks including Yusuf (Counts 17, 18, and 19) obviously expressed the sums he changed over for his own utilization. He conceded to the three checks and consequently admitted to the transformation of a total whole of about N24 billion to his own utilization.

The court focused on that the sentence of the preliminary court didn’t fill in as discouragement to both the convict and others.

Subsequently, the judges decided that the sentence is “thusly suppressed and has the right to be surveyed as follows: on Counts 17, the Respondent is therefore condemned to two years detainment with an expansion of fine of N20 billion Naira; on Counts 18, the Respondent is thusly condemned to two years detainment with an expansion of fine of N1.4 billion Naira; on checks 19, the Respondent is thus condemned to two years detainment with an expansion of fine of 1.5 billion Naira.

The sentence of detainment is to run successively and the fine is to be total.”
